Brown’s head brewer, Peter Martin has been brewing Brown’s award winning Ales & Lagers for the past fifteen years. Peter has recently been busy with our new bottling line, procuring hops during a worldwide shortage and out fitting an old factory to house our future production brewery on the Walloomsac River in Hoosick. Peter is responsible for production of over eleven different Brown’s Beers. From tank to tap, whether it’s Brown’s flagship Pale Ale or World Beer Cup Gold Winner Oatmeal Stout, Peter is a hands on Brewer. When not in the brewhouse, Peter is appreciating the outdoors fishing, chiseling a timberframe or spending time with his two daughters out and around his home in Hoosick, NY.
The Taproom at Brown’s Brewing Company features over a dozen dependably fresh ales and lagers on draught on any given day. Appropriately and simply named after their styles, our hand-crafted Standards are renowned for their freshness, character and taste.
To honor the water source from which all Brown's Ales & Lagers are made , the Tomhannock Resevoir. Brewed in the traditional style that originated in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia, our Pils is brewed using Saaz Hops (for bittering and later dry hopped during lagering for aroma). Pilsner Malts, and a yeast strain that is used to ferment some of the finest Pilsners in the world combined with the Pilsen -- like the soft water of Troy's Tomhannock Reservoir. A portion of each pint goes to the Rensselaer Land Trust, to strengthen their watershed education programs.

Certainly one of our favorites, this unfiltered wheat ale is crafted with an abundance of wheat malt, pale malted barley, whole hops and a classic Weihenstephan Weizen ale yeast. Straw-colored, immensely refreshing, hazy and bursting with spicy flavor our wheat beer has delighted our regulars for years and is true to its Bavarian heritage – even though we don’t typically serve it with breakfast like they do in Germany.

A traditional style beer originating from southern Germany. Our Dunkelweizen is an unfiltered wheat beer with a golden bronze color and medium body. The Weihenstephen Weizen ale yeast used provides this Dunkelweizen both a complex wheat beer sharpness and luscious, malty sweetness. It's clove-tinged fruitiness along with a hint of chocolate malt renders this a superb beer.
