Tomhannock Pilsner

To honor the water source from which all Brown's Ales & Lagers are made, the Tomhannock Reservoir. Brewed in the traditional style that originated in Pilsen, Czechoslovakia, our Pils is brewed using Saaz Hops (for bittering and finishing during lagering for aroma). Pilsner Malts, and a yeast strain that is used to ferment some of the finest Pilsners in the world combined with the Pilsen - like soft water of Troy's Tomhannock Reservoir.

Hefeweizen

Certainly one of our favorites, this unfiltered wheat ale is crafted with an abundance of wheat malt, 2-row brewer's malt, whole hops and a classic Weihenstephan Hefeweizen ale yeast. Straw-colored, immensely refreshing, hazy and bursting with ester flavor our wheat beer has delighted our regulars for years and is true to its Bavarian heritage – even though we don’t typically serve it with breakfast like they do in Germany.

Imperial Stout

Dark, rich, intense and complex, our Imperial Stout is a force to be respected and savored. Originally brewed in Britain for export to Russia – and said to have been favored by Catherine the Great – Imperial Stout warms with a huge malt character. Harvest IPA

This much coveted rare release features 100% freshly harvested New York State grown hops. Robust and amber in color with a creamy head, Brown's Harvest I.P.A. is noted for its intense floral aroma and strong hop character that results from wet hop brewing. Wet hop brewing is necessary as the fresh hops picked no less than a day before the brew would spoil if not used immediately, unlike the the dried hops that we use each day.

Wholly Moses Pumpkin Ale

Brewed once a year from locally grown pie pumpkins harvested at Moses Farm in Eagle Bridge, NY, this sturdy ale truly satisfies all the senses. It pours a lovely mahogany-bronze color with just a hint of orange that is complemented by a rich, warm aroma not unlike fresh baked pumpkin pie. Munich malt provides the perfect balance to the sweet pumpkin and spice flavors, giving it rich malty-sweet flavor that finishes dry and clean.

Rauchbier

Munich malts and beech wood unite to create our Rauchbier, a traditionally German Marzen-style lager that is unique in its orange-brown color and forward, smoky flavor. Peter Martin smokes the malted grain for two days over wet beech wood that originates at Garry and Kelly Brown’s farm, a process that gives the beer a smooth and mild smoky flavor while maintaining a slight sweetness, medium body, and clean finish.

Dunkelweizen

A traditional style beer originating from southern Germany. Our Dunkelweizen is an unfiltered wheat beer with a golden bronze color and medium body. The Weihenstephen Weizen ale yeast used provides this Dunkelweizen both a complex wheat beer sharpness and luscious, malty sweetness. It's clove-tinged fruitiness along with a hint of chocolate malt renders this a superb beer.

Dunder & Blixem Strong Ale

Brown’s Dunder & Blixem Strong Ale is a wonderfully full and festive winter warmer brewed just for the holiday season. Pouring mahogany-red, Dunder & Blixem is rich and subtly roasty with notes of toffee, raisin and holiday spice with a delightful piney and herbal hop balance. Brewed in honor of Clement Clarke Moore’s “A Visit From St. Nicholas” which was first published in the Troy, NY Sentinel on December 23, 1823. More popularly known as “Twas the Night Before Christmas” the tale originally featured reindeer “Dunder” and “Blixem” (Dutch for Thunder and Lightning) before later tellings of the fable spoke of Donner and Blitzen.

Spring Bock

Brown’s Spring Lager is a malty, yet undeniably drinkable, amber seasonal. Brewed with generous amounts of Munich Malt, notes of bread and cracker combine with a pleasant bitter finish to round out this complex brew. The addition of wheat and an extended lagering create a beer which is both smooth and refreshing. Golden amber in color with a thick white head, the nose is malty with hints of honey, providing a complete and satisfying drinking experience.

Dry Irish Stout

An annual seasonal for us every March. The unmalted roasted barley used in our Dry Irish Stout presents a pronounced malt character while maintaining a drinkable light body and a soothing smooth and creamy texture. Rich in color, this beer pours deep dark brown to nearly black with a slight carbonation and flavor that finishes clean and dry.

Cream Ale

English Pale Ale

Brown's English Pale is not simply the sum of its ingredients. Rather than being simply malt or hop-forward, it offers a delicate balance of fruity yeast, bready and toffee-like malt sweetness, earthy and floral hop flavor, all rounded out by a subtle "mineral-ly" water base. As a Pale Ale, the hops play a large role, and thus it is both present in the bitterness (Fuggle hops), as well as in the flavor and aroma through dry hopping. Medium bodied and garnet in color, this beer pairs very well with fish and chips, and fruity desserts.

Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout

Our imperial, bourbon barrel aged in Jack Daniels oak. The bourbon and alcohol help to pull out other flavors from the oak, most notably vanilla, coconut, and toffee. Other flavors in this brew include roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, burnt toast, and bourbon (Jack Daniel’s barrels).

Double Oatmeal Stout

A beefier version of our award-winning classic, boasting a higher ABV and extra oats for additional silky mouthfeel. While we use similar ingredients to brew our flagship Oatmeal Stout, we produce half the amount of beer (therefore doubling the ABV) in brewing our Double Oatmeal Stout. Rich with roasted character, the finished beer is then aged in bourbon barrels with cacao nibs, coffee, and vanilla.

Weizenbock

Weizenbock’s rarity is only one of the many alluring qualities of this sturdy seasonal brew. We take this rarity further than other breweries by using both hefeweizen and lager yeast in our special rendition. A cool fermentation gives it a clean malty lager profile and pear and clove notes characteristic of a hefeweizen. It is in essence a stronger dunkelweizen that pairs perfectly with our region’s delicious fall bounty.

Enjoy this super hoppy and juicy pale ale that is not overly bitter. The flavor profile features citrus, tropical fruit, slight pine, and has a creamy mouthfeel from oats and malts.
