Brown's Brewing Company
Brown’s Brewing Company has been independent and fiercely defending happier hours since 1993. Garry and Kelly Brown spent three years renovating a 175 year-old forgotten warehouse on a then-blighted River Street in Troy, NY building a highly regarded and loved brewery and taproom, the first of its kind in New York State. As brewers constantly refining their craft, the Browns sought more space and acquired a second blighted 175 year old factory space located in North Hoosick, NY. The Walloomsac Brewery and Taproom facility provided the opportunity for Brown’s beer to be brewed and packaged. With an expanding distribution network across three states, two separate brew houses, a state of the art canning facility, two award-winning restaurants, a highly sought after private event space, and being a hub of memorable experiences for a quarter of million visitors each year, Brown’s Brewing Company has crafted a revolution of its own.
Let's Take a Look Back
1993FoundedBrown’s Brewing Company opened in 1993 as the Brown & Moran Brewing Company at 417 River Street in downtown Troy and was the first brewery restaurant in the Capital Region. The Brown's renovation of a historic 150 year old warehouse on the Hudson River sparked Troy's renaissance and signaled the rebirth of the rough and tumble home of "Uncle Sam" Wilson.
2010Revolution HallBrown’s began managing the Revolution Hall space as a private event venue in 2010 when the owner of the live music business ceased operations. Revolution Hall's intimate space and location on the bank of the Hudson River make it a much sought after venue for weddings and events of up to 250 guests.
2011Hurricane IreneIn August, Hurricane Irene threatens both the Walloomsac Taproom in Hoosick Falls on the Walloomsac River and the Troy Taproom on the Hudson River. Though the storm was mighty and destructive, both buildings survived.
2013GrowthBrown's was the first brewpub in the Capital Region and has grown into the largest brewpub in New York State. Brown's Troy Taproom, Revolution Hall, and Malt Room are social hubs for the local community as well as a popular Eastern New York travel destination. During the course of the year, over 25 different styles of ales and lagers are brewed in the Troy Taproom's 15 barrel brewhouse and the bar has over a dozen house beers on tap at any one time.
2013Malt RoomBrown's Malt Room opened in September 2013 after a year of careful renovation. Always authentic and selective in their style, the Brown's completed much of the work themselves, and furniture and decor came from old barns and homes in the area and local artists who were commissioned for specific pieces. Today the Malt Room is beautiful and unique space available for rent - guests will talk about events here for years to come.
2014ExpansionIn mid 2013, Brown's opened its new 20,000 barrel production brewery in North Hoosick to bottle and keg beer for broader distribution in the Northeast. The Walloomsac Taproom bar and tour center opened in Fall 2014. See below for a slideshow of the incredible restoration.
